Welcome to the Chase Creek Swim Team 2008
Message from the Head Swim Team Coach – Bee Anthony Let’s swim! Swimming is such a wonderful cardio-respiratory sport. Not only does it work the heart, but every other muscle in the body. What a great way to exercise the body. Teaching your children to be proficient swimmers, to develop endurance and confidence, and most importantly to develop a love for the sport of swimming is what I hope to achieve as your new swim team coach. My love for swimming began at a very early age when I started swimming in the Severn River. At 4 years old I began swimming in the River Meets with my mother yelling the whole way from the raft to the pier. I swam every summer after that. As I got older, not only did I swim for the Pines Swim Team, but I also coached it for 3 years. Scraping turn boards and putting up sea nettle nets, which never worked, were part of the job. I lifeguarded and later got my Water Safety Instructor’s certification teaching swim lessons as well as lifeguard training. My first job with Anne Arundel County was teaching the Drown-Proofing Program for fifth graders. Still not able to get out of the water, I went to Central Special where I taught Adapted Aquatics for 10 years. Finally, a little water-logged, I decided to go into elementary Physical Education. I have been teaching at Overlook Elementary for 10 years now. I enjoy working with children and helping them reach their potential. Not only do I love the water, I love being active. All through high school and college I played volleyball, basketball and tennis. I have coached and officiated at the recreational, high school and College level. I feel my background as a player, coach, official and mom will help make this swim season memorable. Why swim? Summer swim team, not only improves your strokes, but teaches you discipline and work ethic. You see how working hard every day helps you to reach your goals. The only real competition is with yourself. Fun, Improvement and Hard-Work will be my focus for Chase Creek swimmers this year. I look forward to seeing everyone at the pool this year and ready to be their best! Bee Anthony
